Our mandate

The Workforce Development Board (WDB) is a community based, not-for-profit corporation that serves the cities of Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes and the counties of Northumberland, Peterborough and Haliburton.

The WDB works with the community to identify trends and opportunities in the labour market environment which impact our workforce. We then establish community partnerships and work to nurture new ideas which address these issues and help prepare our community to thrive in our local economy.

Our vision

Northumberland, Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton:
...........The obvious place to live, learn, earn and invest!

Our mandate

  • To Identify trends and opportunities in the area labour markets
  • To develop a local area plan in partnership with the community to maximize opportunities and address needs
  • To report to the community on outcomes
  • To maintain and publicize an inventory of programs and services available in our area

Identify…Plan…Execute

In previous years we have published the TOP Report or Trends Opportunities Priorities Report following a consultative process with the community. The TOP Report is essentially a community action plan – a blueprint for a wide range of programs, activities and communications. In the 2009/2010 year we moved away from the TOP Report and developed an Integrated Local Labour Market Plan (ILLMP) demonstration project.
