Poultry Farm is seeking an Egg Packing Worker
Our family farm is looking for some new members for our farm team. Located near Rice Lake Ontario, our farm specializes in laying hens and producing top quality eggs for Canadians. We are a small family farm business with a friendly culture that takes pride in caring for our hens and the people we work with.
Role
This job will focus on sorting and packing eggs. While the majority of the work is automated, your job of making sure only perfect eggs get packed for sale is an important one. This is a great opportunity for students or new grads looking to gain some practical work experience, early retirees, or those looking for a change of pace from their current job. It’s also a great option for parents with young children looking for work during school or daycare hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Help operate the farm egg packer, which collects and packs eggs into flats of 30. You would help sort eggs, stack cases of eggs onto skids, and move skids into the cooler nearby
- Follow farm protocols and programs (workplace safety, security, food safety, on-farm biosecurity) to meet or exceed audit standards
- Complete daily checklist items such as equipment checks, cleaning and maintenance
- Safely use equipment and troubleshoot maintenance requirements

- Physical activity in a farm environment, with occasional repetitive lifting of objects 10-25 pounds
- Barn environments can be odorous, noisy, hot, or dusty. Masks are provided and employees are encouraged to wear them. You will not be working in the barn, but would be near it.
Qualifications: Our ideal candidate…
- Must be legally able to work in Canada. No sponsorships available
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn new skills, with good observation and problem-solving skills
- Is responsible for showing up to work
- Works independently as well as part of a team
- Performs physical tasks safely, including occasionally lifting 10-25 lbs repetitively
- Willing to take part in the rotating weekend and holiday schedule, and occasional longer hours as farm tasks dictate
- Has a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to get to a rural farm location
- Agriculture experience or mechanical skills are assets but not necessary. Training will be provided
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
Salary: Competitive hourly wage starting above minimum wage
Schedule:
- 6-7 hour day shifts, approximately 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with options for less or more hours depending on the farm schedule
- Flexible numbers of days per week, with a schedule that can be different from week to week
- Includes a rotating weekend and holiday schedule
